I tried turning the car on with the, correct, wiring to the fuse box, no luck.

So this is what i found when i pulled the 1, 3, 5, 7 spark plugs out. What do you guys think?? i was going to clean them up with a wire brush and some starter fluid and the blow them out with the compressor. Also, checking the gap on them. What is the gap suppose to be??

The motor is a 396, not original to the car. I have been trying to find some kind of stamped numbers on the block or heads to see what year its from and possibly narrowing it down to what cars it might have been in. Previous owner said that the motor was out of a 65 impala.

I think it's time to go back to basics.

Exactly how are you determining there is no spark?

If it's anything less than "my timing light doesn't flash when cranking" put a timing light on it and see if it flashes while cranking. If it does, point it at the balancer and see what your timing is.

So I have decided to ditch the MSD Distributor (85551) and the 6AL Box. I, most likely, will go with a MSD 8360 Ready to Run distributor. I found a working used one, waiting for a reply from the seller.

Any idea who makes the Jegs distributors? I have heard that MSD makes the summitt distributors.

So i go to a performance store earlier in the day to look around and ask questions about different ready to run distributors. Eventually, I told the person that i had tried 2 different msd boxes and that I still had no spark. He told me to bring them over and he would test them, no charge. Left and came back and tested the new box, 1st, that my friend had sitting in her garage. It was a no go, was dead. Hooked up the box that came with the car that had been sitting in the engine compartment for 5-6 years and looked like garbage and worked great. Going to reconnect and give it a shot once again. Did the whole Top Dead Center thing. Hope it works now.

Negative Rafterman. Wanted to put my fist through the windshield. Im going to move into the inside and clean up some rust thats on the passenger side floor board and apply some Chassis Saver. Might as well do some other things that i know i can do. I will come back to it eventually.

Now my stubborn arse can, FINALLY, move on to other stuff knowing that the engine sounds great, no knocks or anything.

Ill attempt to up the vid i took after the 1st time it was started.
