I have some pot metal parts I want to remove the paint from. I have a blast cabinet (currently full of Silica sand) and I have two (free) bags of soda for blasting. Any one have any idea what kind of results I might get from the soda vs sand? Or possible problems trying to put soda thru sand blast equipment? My concern is if I Sand blast them it will leave too rough of a finish. I'm hoping for a smooth finish mostly uniform in color.

Jeff I have that vibratory tumbler you could use. The finish depends on how long you let it run and what media you use.

Some people think I'm out of my mind, but in my defense it's pretty scary in there!

I was told these parts are too big for a home size tumbler, the theory being they need to "tumble" to get done. The ultimate gola is to have RS headlight doors (inners) that look like they did when new. I need to find some practice pieces before I try anything on the real parts. I'd rather have them painted black then rough.
