If so what combo do you run and what air pressure seemed to work out best? Here's the details:400 or so HP, 2400 stall, 3:55 gears, 200r4, B&M Quicksilver shifter, B&M shift kit, 93 octane, Hotchkiss suspension, poly bushings and subframe connectors. Street car, full interior, rookie driver. The car hooks solid at street pressure, within a short time there is no spin, but again I am new at this, any advice is appreciated, and needed. :3gears:

There is no 1 right answer to your question Don but I would start at 16# since your on a 7" wheel and see what happens. Then based on the first couple of launches you can make adjustments from there if necessary. Some guys like them with higher pressure and find they work better for their chassis setup and driving style. I have also heard they work down to 12# of pressure too.

I have the Comp Engr front drag shocks here for you if you are still interested. Dimensions I get are 10.125" compressed, 15.50" exteneded and 2.375" ctr to ctr on the lower crossbar mounting bolts. I can leave them for you tonight or bring them with to the track on Sunday. Should only take 15 minutes to swap at the track if you want to try them out. Let me know.

I just went and measured the Bilsteins. Yours will bolt up perfectly. (so 1st & 2nd Gen front shock are interchangeable) Measuring from the end of the polished shaft to the top of the lower mounting flange I get 9.0 compressed & 15.25 extended. I'll need to bring a jack & stands because no way you can crawl under my car. Bring them Sunday, & I'll bring the Bilsteins (Hotchkis) for the ride back home.

I read somewhere that properly inflated the tire will leave a burnout the full width. if it's under inflated it will cup up in the center and just leave two skinny strips. If over inflated it will be less than the full tead width across. This advise might be worth what ya paid fer it ...... I don't know.

Don like Tom said there isn't just one answer to this question. Even track conditions may require different tire pressures to get the best results on any given day. But I would say for someone with limited track experience start at 18psi and work your way down to see if 60' times improve or get worse. The reason I say that in stead of most times when I would tell guys to start at 16.5psi is those tires can get squirly at around 16psi, and if your not comfortable handleing your car when if it gets out of shap you can get in trouble in a hurry or have a little present down stairs if you know what I meen. As Tom mentioned I've seen guys run at 12psi and some run at 20psi, but myself and must guys I know well enough seem to run best at 16.5-17.5psi. Biggest thing is make sure you have an accurat low pressure guage and record your temps right before your run as well as the length of burnout.

The simple answer is run the highest pressure that will hook. Lower pressure creates more rolling resistance. As others have said the pressure will depend on track conditions and the car in question. This is one area where trial and error is the only way to get it dialed in. Personally I like to start higher, if you drive to the track and don't carry an air tank, you don't want to let too much air out and not be able to add air. If you start at the pressure you drive in on and let air out each pass until you get it to hook then no worries about needing an air tank. If you have access to air then this is not an issue.

I agree with everyone that said trial and error is the way to go, it definitely is. And as Royce said the more pressure you can run the better.

But just to clarify, are you talking ET streets, the bias ply ones with almost no tread, or ET street radials? The pressure will typically be lower in the bias plys, radials definitely like more pressure. I run ET street radials and they are awesome tires, you'll love em'.
