Jim, it will depend on the weight of the car, but if you are shooting for an honest 7.50 it will take around 1500 horse at teh flywheel, probably more, depending on lots of variables. The horsepower number will also depend on the power adder, and so will the mph. In a nitrous car you will need to go 180+, with a blower it will need to be a bit more mph since that is where they make usable power, up top.
I don't think an F2 will get you there unless the car is real light, I'm thinking an F3R or so, and those 90mm turbos are freaking huge for that motor, you would have your hands full getting those dialed in.
What are you getting into? A whole bunch of work, trust me, but if you love cars it will be fun. Let me give you some advice though, get some professional help to get you started (like a pro engine tuner not a shrink, though a shrink will be needed...

) Get in touch with someone like Proline or Dutweiler, or Moran, for turbos and I don't know who for a pro charger, if you go with Nitrous I know lots of people you could talk to, thats our drug of choice.
Let me tell you this also, we have been racing this type of stuff for a good while and it's a major PIA to maintain usually, and the motor is only one part of the puzzle. Starting out with a new chassis is going to be rough, initially you will need some help getting it down track I assure you. We are fighting this battle right now, we changed the vette so drastically we were staring over, and with the limited time we have spent we are still a ways off, but getting closer. Again, look for some pro help here.
People don't realize what it takes to go 7's I think generally, getting into the 7's is pretty easy, but the deeper you go the harder it gets. It's a blast but just know you are in for lots of work.
And remember, to win a small fortune racing you need to start out with a large fortune...
