Since profit sharing didn't happen this year at work as we were expecting and I have now officially blown my non-exitent budget for the year with the new WaveTrac posi and my pending air compressor purchase I was wondering if there are any "performance" brake shoes available for GM rear drum style brakes that you guys know of?? Something more aggresive like semi-metallic or maybe even a little better? I was going to look into Hawk or EBC brake shoes(rear) and pads(front) but thought I woudl ask first. I would really love to upgrade to discs but it ain't gonna happen this year for sure.

Not that I'm aware of for the stock set up Tom. The only drum upgrade I know of is the Master power 11" drum kit. But at that point just get disks.

Yep, like you said Harley no point in larger drums when the money could go towards discs. Right just want better shoes if I can find them. If not then I just replace what I have with new stock stuff because the one on the car have been contaminated with gear lube at least twice now and its time to quit cleaning them and get new ones.

I hear you I need to replace mine for the same "axle leak" issue.

Found this site Harley but can't figure out where they are located. They seem to have a reasonable selection on shoes and drums, nothing really screams performance oriented. They do have rear drums by Brembo for $28 each.........not sure how they compare to stuff like Wagner, AC Delco? I always had the impression that Brembo was quality performance stuff but have never used anything from them nor do I know anyone that has.

They ARE DRUM brakes...lets get real here...discs are a great improvement over drums....but drums are still more than efficient for street and mild track use.
So would the difference between ordinary off the shelf and far more expensive so called marketing propaganda 'hi performance' shoes realy be worth the expence or effort?
They may be a liitle better, but still will not get close to out performing discs since they are still subject to heat disapation...
But then there is ld bragging right off caoarse " I dont have disc on the rear but they are hi performace shoes" yep would work with those who dont know the difference between a tow bar and a hitch...but then those people should be banned from cars anyway.

There can be a huge difference in disc brake pads as far as how much they fade - cinterized pads are much better than others from my experience racing bikes on GP style tracks - I would think there would be a similar shoe for drums but don't have any experience with them or suggestions.
