Anyone using the Big End 100A 1 wire/3 wire alternator as a 3 wire? Any issues?

My Powermaster alternator can be installed as either a 1 wire or as the factory connections. I'm currently using it as 1 wire. Do the installation instructions say that it is acceptable to operate it as a 3 wire alternator??

David,
Yes, it can be hooked up either way. Im going to go the 3 wire way. Just have to change the pigtail from the harness.

M&H Electrical Fabricators sells an adapter harness to eliminate any cutting on your wiring harness. I have one and will use it if/when I want to run the alternator as a 3 wire. The harness isn't very expensive !!!!

My alternator is a 1 wire with option to run as a 3 wire with the VR plug. I would only need to change to thicker guage wire if I use it vs a 65 amp alt from what I understand. I picked up a stock 65 amp alt from Autozone to use for now until I get the car started and running right. Then I will deal with changing to 100A if I want. Im only running MSD and a amp for the stereo. Im sure I wont need 100A.

I run an orignal 61 amp alternator. Loads include EFI, fuel pump, and a thousand watts stereo. Never a problem with the battery running down. Headlights load it pretty good at idle, and turn signals twitch the voltmeter.
