I recently installed this on my 468 BB with locked out timing and the difference in how the engine starts is remarkable.
MSD Starter SaverDavid F.
What issues were you experiancing prior to the Starter saver install?
Curious as to what you are locked out at and why you opted for this over a spark curve.
Any and all info you could supply would be very helpfull.
I often hear the pros and cons of locked out timing on the street and would love to hear your opinion on this.
Regardless..a big woohoo back at cha.Your Pro Street is just flat out Bad A$$.
George,
The problems I encountered were:
(1.) Starter "kickback"
(2.) Starter "dragging" (mimicking an undercharged battery)
I'm locked out at 36 degrees and the engine idles consistantly, with a minimal drop in RPM from neutral to gear. As far as the spark curve goes George, I've gone from the lightest possible springs in steps going heavier and at that point the engine idled rich, was rough on plugs and was soft on the bottom end. With the locked timing the car is easier to drive on the street, more friendly on plugs. Locking out the timing made it more streetable in the sense that the bottom end power was restored.
