Hi from Vegas! We enjoyed a great day of qualifying today, and another to come tomorrow before eliminations on Sunday.

This is absolutely the best heads up doorslammer show in the country!!
Thanks to "The Strip at Las Vegas" and the Pacofic Street Car Association for putting this on.

Pro street has 52 cars vieing for a spot in a 32 car field. The bump right now is like 6.88 sec? We've had three 6.0x runs, several 235mph plus, one 250 mph! These guys ROCK.

Outlaw 10.5 is basically the same cars, but running on 10.5" slicks. The low et's are in the 6.60's and many cars are running over 200 mph.

Possibly the most fun is the drag radial class. These guys have to run 275-15 micky thompson et streets, and a bascally stcok chassis, no tube frames, no strut front ends, etc. Getting the power to the ground is VERY tricky, and they are running 7.70's at 180 plus.

In addition there is a great field of index and bracket cars, several hundred in all.

I've been taking lots of pics, but it's late and I left the camera in the car. Manana perhaps?

Yesterday just was not a good day for air travel...

We got a late start out of vegas on southwest. Pilot predicted a near recond flight time thanks to a fierce tailwind, but it was not to be. Nasty weather blew up in Illinois while we were enroute, and after an hour flying around in circles, we had to go to Kansas City for gas. They were nice enough to wheel a jetway up to the plane, and let us stretch our legs a bit while we waited. Only on that jetway, they wouldn't let us into the terminal.

After an hour or so, we got back in the air, and did eventually land at Midway. Better late than never.

On the subject of never, I hear Mark and Herbs flight got diverted to Portland, and never did get back in the air. Word is they will be taking a bus from Portland to Bellingham, WA, where they still need to retrieve their car, get through the border, and take a ferry to that island they live on... Sorry guys, hope you get home soon.

They left Portland at 10 am by bus, got to Bellingham just afer 3 pm, breezed through the border and should be bellying up to the buffet on the 5 pm ferry at the moment. They should make it home around 8 pm or so - his girls will all be happy when he gets here. Long trip home to say the least.

Sandra.

Any pics yet Jim?
You make any new contacts in the speed world there?
Any luck selling or buying "race car" parts?
