I'm having trouble getting my new ignition lock on the 69 coupe to go all of the way into the steering column, it's sticking out about 1/4".
Obviously I am missing something here!!
Any ideas chaps???
Thanks.... :clink:

Wish I could help you Ken but I have never had to change one out. Somebody here should be able to help out. I hope you get it figured out.

I don't know how you got it out without removing steering wheel. If the old switch can come out without depressing the retainer you might have damage inside the column. You will need a lock plate depressor IMHO to get below the T/S sw.

I only recently found out that the lock assembly came out of the column without any effort on my part!
Looks as though someone has done a dodgy job on it previously and it may be the reason it was not locking itself correctly.
So I bought a new lock and after comparing the 2 locks the old one has a part missing which may have stopped it from coming out of the column on it's own. No sweat I'll get on to it today.
I did ASS U ME that it would be an easy fix, we know how that goes!!! :hitfan:

Some previous butchery on the lock assembly/column probably due to lost keys has made this rather simple job somewhat tedious and I have called on the help of a mechanic friend to rectify the problem!
The honeypot has been removed and taken away for some surgical work, all things being fair and equal we'll be back in action in the next few days.
