On my 69, the engine is finally working great and looking good. For the engine bay, the final change is changing the alternator from a 1 wire to a 3 wire setup.
--------------------------------------------------
I started working on the interior this week. I want to switch from a deluxe interior to a standard interior and get rid of the rust. I changed the regulators from deluxe to standard, adjusted the windows and changed the door handles.

The rust removal plan:
1) 90 degree die-grinder with 2" 60 grit 3M Roloc discs to remove the heavy rust
2) ospho
3) eastwood rust encapsulator
4) eastwood chassis black paint

The old roof insulation was pretty well deteriorated so I scraped it with a gasket scraper. Getting the epoxy off was a pain. There is surface rust under the roof insulation.

After roloc discs and ospho.....
A lot of the brown is brown paint, but I see that I missed some areas.

It should be easy to see which sides of the roof have been done:

HA! Looking forward to seeing the pics.

Do you have any pics of your interior? Since I am in the beginning stages of a total mess with mine, I would like seeing any interior pictures of a work in progress.

looking good David
here was some condensation issues i see in the cars past.
if your selling the deluxe door panels and hardware let me know.
if they are in good shape maybe ill trade ya my newish std panels.
for the deluxe.
also the rear seat is narrow compared to the std interior.
might just have to swap them aswell
Saw this and had to let you know
WARNING: If you are changing your car's interior from standard to deluxe, you must change the seat foam, door opening mechanisms and window regulators or the interior will not fit properly.
If ya need a hand getting it all back together let me know !!!!!!!

No need to change the rear seat on a 68 or 69 they are the same width unless you have a fold-down which is a different story all together as you know, 67 is the narrower seat.

Dawg,

It is looking better now. I put Dynamat on the ceiling and floor.

I picked up standard interior black seats on EBay a while back. I also changed out the regulators and the door handles from deluxe to standard. Thanks for the offer to help though. It is greatly appreciated!!!

The deluxe door panels that were in there were in terrible shape and falling apart. I have heard a lot of good things about the TMI door panels and they should be coming out pretty soon. As soon as they are released, those are the ones I've been planning on putting in.

David

David, Have you talked with TMI lately? It's been a while but they told me it would be after the first of the year before they released them. I was wanting to try'em myself.

Daniel,

I have not talked to them recently and your info is the most recent, that they will be out sometime in early 2011.

I liked the prototype pictures I saw at another forum.

Old panel:

New panel:

Patti Stinson at Firewheel Classics is supposed to notify me when the panels are ready to order.
