I hear this all the time.Always someone commenting on the best blower grind for their application.
Some say a 110* only with gas and 114* with alky.I was reading some tech from BDS on this..and they seem to back up the notion of more overlap with gas.
This sounds more like a marine deal than a street/strip car.
How many roots blown street deals do you know that operate under boost for more than seconds at a time.
If I built a roots engine on gas for a motorhome or offshore..I would install inconel exhaust valves and increase overlap for some cooling effect..as I see the longevity issue trumps the HP goal.
Really though..how many street/strip blown engines running pump swill concern themselves with this theory.
I for one do not buy into the BDS generic must have 110* lsa on gas.
You can have similiar cam timing events that have close to the same lsa,s with different cams.
I am not here to doubt BDS engineers..but the lsa suggests marine not street and many seem to follow this as the golden rule.
Your thoughts folks on this topic.

Thanks Steps.
That pretty much covered and answered all my questions regarding lobe seperation angles in a roots blown computer controlled v8.I"m leaning more towards the aftermarket end of it.

I'd typed something about this the other night, but then my router locked up again and I lost it.

For sure not one of my best subjects, but even in na applications, the oems like really wide lsa's these days, 118 and even higher. They want to get rid of overlap, which is genmerally also a goal in a blower motor.

110, I never heard of that as a "magic" number for a blower cam. Heck, my cam is on 110, and so were my last 2, pretty normal for a hi perf cam. "Wide cams" are on 112 or even 114...

If you get a chance..check out www.blowerdriveservice.com/.
They have a tech section and look at their cam lsa preferance.I think these are more for a marine unit under boost at all times vs a street hot rod that rarely sees boost for any amount of time.
