I recently completed a major resto-mod on a Z11. The owner had bought a new LS1/4l60e a number of years ago and had it installed along with a rack and pinion "conversion". The car handled terribly and he quit driving it altogether a couple years ago and pulled the front clip. He had a couple friends say they would help him get it back on the road but after looking at it they didn't want anything to do with it. Enter me, the glutton for punishment. I told him the only thing I could do with the existing sub frame was remove and scrap it. It was TOTALLY butchered...
Rather than re-type the whole 2 month saga and post 40+ pics on here, I am providing a link to our local Camaro club's forum where it is documented.... Aaron, my partner in this, is an electrical engineer and completely stripped all the old wiring from the car and installed an American Autowire update kit. I also removed the gas tank and external fuel pump from the previous hack job and installed a stainless tank with internal fuel pump from Rick's Hot Rods in TX. I now realize I didn't get any piocs of it installed but it is a beautiful work of art and should be placed in sight !!! At the point of the entire interior, tank, fuel lines and subframe removed, all that was left was a shell and the rear axle. Anyway, we got 'er done in 2 months and the owner is happy as he!!.

Sorry I didn't get back to this sooner, Jim. I don't think I got an email notification of your post. Duh, I just looked and I didn't have that feature turned on.
The subframe was an used take-out from a 69 Camaro. It was a Wayne Due product. Nice subframe for it's day but lacking a few refinements, which I added.
The owner called me a couple weeks ago from a town about 120 miles from here. He had driven the car there in the past and it was terrible to steer and the external fuel pump would overheat and quit. He would have to sit on the side of the freeway until it cooled enough to run again. On the day he called, he was giddy as a kid at Christmas. The car had driven and run flawlessly non-stop for the first time in 10 years.
