I guess i shoild get a start on this subject . About two months ago JimM talked me into buying a drag car ;) ;) . I have wanted another drag for a while now, I found it on Ebay and watched it's progress for a few days...no one bid on the car , at the end of the auction i emailed him and made a offer.I then needed to ask my old buddy JimM to go have a look at it because it was in his home town of Chicago . Jim then borrowed a friends car trailer and brought the car to his house .My wife Sandra and i then made a trip to Chicago 2200 miles east of our place here in canada .Jim then had just a week to get the spare room ready for our arrival . Do you remember cutting the tip off his thumb..he was working on the spare room when he did it ( no i didn't feel bad at all ) he cried like a girl the whole time we were there :D . They are great poeple and very good friends for doing this for us . Now getting back to the car . As i said it's a 81 camaro with a tube chassis ful cage with the funny car add on , it has a dana 60 rear with 16x33 slicks . It has a VFN fiberglass frontend , doors , and trunk lid. The plans for the car will be adding my ATI blown 427 SBC and behind it will be a G-Force clutchless five speed . Right now it's a A arm front but i'm switching it to strange struts as soon i get time. I think Jim has some pics of when he brought it home to carrol . I will add updates when i get there. Sorry for being long winded but there was a bit of a story getting the car .
Mark.

I remember reading about this on TC. For Jim to do what he did indicates that he is indeed a man of great character 8-)!!! . If the pics of your Camaro can be found...please post them.

It sounds like you have a pretty solid foundation for a fast car. I'll be following along with the build, I'd like to build a drag car someday.

Some people think I'm out of my mind, but in my defense it's pretty scary in there!

Indeed i will . It's a great looking machine NOT. I told the wife..after about fifty grand it will look great ;) . I keep telling her the blower motor was intended for the 69 vert . I just don't want to wreck it .I will get going on the pics. It should be a great car . I paid $1900.00 for it , i couldn't buy the Mark Williams dana 60 for that . I'm hoping to get it in the mid 8's if all goes well. Now that we finished a small reno on the house...maybe i can start working on her .
Mark.

Truth of the matter is, after our kick-ass vacation this past summer, Mark just flat missed me enough to cook up this whole scheme to drive to Chicago to buy the "only" clapped out race car project in North America.

Unfortunately, he couldn't find a suitable co-pilot (Danielle volunteered, but mama nixed that) and his darling wife ended up coming along to make sure he kept the shiny side up and between the lines. We'll be a while digging out of that doghouse.

And "I" got pictures.

Mark,
That car is a solid foundation and looks a lot better than you described. Won't take much to have it looking real nice (easy for me to say).

Hey Doug,
The Buick is coming along very slow right now. I am not a cold weather guy, lol. I ran into a little snag, some of the chrome I had done came out like crap. I never unwrapped it untilI went to install it. I have to get the grille, head light trim, and a few other pieces done over. I should have the car done before the end of Feb. I have been working on my 70 Nova engineand it will be done, this week (I'll post some pictures). I will then install the roll cage. By the time that's done I should have the Buicks chrome done. It never ends, lol.

Start a new thread and post some pictures of your Nova. I am a fan of your car.

Hi Royce, yes it's not a bad start .For what i paid for it the rear end was worth it.I would just feel better updating a few things before i start doing 150 down the strip. It's just held up right now while i do a complete resto on a MG.
Mark.

Royca, good to see you hereagain. shoot me a pic of the buick and I'll fix you up with an avatar.

You can link pics to pm's here, or just directly post it in a thread (maybe a new one on the build?) and I can grab it and "avatarize it."

Or I could just hang a mugshot I got from vegas?
I like names and avatars, makes it all more personal.
As we've seen before, it's sometimes easy on the internet to forget everyone's a people.
