More of a carport find.

My father-in-law, Paul, bought a winter house in Florida about six months ago. He saw a Camaro under a car cover at a neighbor’s house. The neighbor was not selling the car (he had it since 1976 near the time he was finishing his Air Force service) but my father-in-law kept going over to check it out. Paul kept giving out comments like the water from the canal isn’t doing your car any favors. It sure is getting rusted out, etc. It was being stored in a carport at a house the neighbor used to own across the street from the one he was living in. He is maintaining the house for the current owners who are renting it out. Paul kept telling him that his son-in-law was interested when he was ready to sell. About 6 months later, the neighbor saw swimsuits drying on the car (on top of the car cover for it). He then called Paul and told him that he was willing to sell the car.

Two weeks ago, I went to look at it and buy it.

I am on Jerry M’s list and it should be formally checked out soon. The majority of the numbers I have checked out using his book look good. The biggest problems so far are surface rust, non-matching carb and non-matching water pump. It has original paint, the engine vin, trans vin and rear end check out A-OK. It is a X33 car.

Great find, some nice options on there. I think you'll find rust in unusual places compared to cars from the snow belt, hopefully not as severe .

Thanks guys!

I am surprised at how solid the body actually is. I like the idea of having a survivor Z/28, and I want to keep the original paint. I don't like the surface rust on the underside though and I'm not sure what to do about it.

Thanks Dave! I have spent the past 3 days documenting numbers. I have a major migraine from the brake cleaner. Worst one was the the engine VIN near the oil filter.

I put everything in one 31 page Word document with everything in the same order as Jerry M's fact book. I just finished about 20 minutes ago and now..... :beers:

Been making some progress on rust removal. Also, the engine has been rebuilt.

not in survivor condition anymore, but I really wanted to get rid of the rust especially around the dash panel and wheel wells.

Like Holy Shit! Guess it didn't need that original paint after all?
And it even came with it's own supply of swiss cheese!
