Well I had the opportunity to buy a rusty but trusty '95 S10 for what I could sell my Sons Cavalier for.
While I am waiting on the title I used some cheap techniquies to get her looking better. The cast GM wheels had white corrosion stains and discoloration. I soaked them in toilet bowl cleaner, spread it with a scotchbrite pad and rinsed them off. 3 out of 4 look great. Chrome polished the caps and I'm part way there, but much better. The upper wheel houses on the bed and lower rear corners on the cab where toast. I used so much Bondo on the fenders I had to come up with a better idea. The old "newspaper & duct tape" method did not appeal to me, so I used expanding foam sealant, sanded it down and Bondo'd over it. The service engine light was on and causing a rough idle, turned out to be sensors on the throttle body all carboned up. A liberal dousing with cleaner took care of that. I had to scrub the interior for about 4 hours but it's looking good now. All in all I have about $650 into a 4.3 Vortec v6 extended cab S10 that runs well. Now a little more detail work and my son get's my van, I get a truck and life is good.

I had a 95 S10. Bought her new in September of 94'. Ya know, that's when your new model comes out. Mine was the dark red, regular cab, 4 cyl, 5 speed, No ac.

That truck looks real good for 650. You've done a great job on the wheel wells, hope it lasts awhile.

Nice suprise today. I decided to get under the truck and paint the front "airdam" to match. Pretty much burned up the $40 budget for the body, but it looks pretty good. Anyway I found aftermarket exhaust, springs, swaybar, and dropped spindles :woot: Took it for my first drive (brought her home in that hurricane a few weeks back and was driving like Miss Daisy) The ride is a bit stiff but boy will she turn a corner.

You got a great truck for the $650 initial investment.
