What do you personally want to see an article on? Most of us have cars that are not "done". Is there a project you'd like to tackle but don't feel confident enough to do yourself? Something you need more info on before tackling, don't want to buy parts twice? Post up suggestions and I will try to get the info you need and write it up. (that means I may be PM'ing for help)
Are you into or starting a project? Take lots of pictures. PM me for my email. Send me pics and tell me the story. I'll clean it up, add some info, get your OK and post it.
If you're comfortable writing and such see Jim's post from Nov. 2009
http://firstgens.com/forum/site-discuss ... s-932.html
Let's share what we know guys, and like me learn from the responses the articles generate.

How about a write up on "frame on" restos? Is that way too vague?

I'm starting the process of cleaning up my undercarriage right now (aft to bow), and it's just so insanely gross, and there are so many places the wire wheel won't get to, it's proving to be more than I anticipated... Found one of Jim's old posts and I'm going to go get some of the 3M cleaning disks from Home Depot tomorrow.

Not to mention the restoration process -- POR15, PPG, Eastwood -- it's all kind of mind boggling. A write up would be awesome!

That said, I'm just as content to start a thread, post my progress and ask for help as I need it.

The big differnce between a frame on and toal dismantle is the abilty to get into those places, able to drop parts into chemical baths , sand blast etc
If a car has been restoed in the recent past, yes a frame on or basically a clean and tidy up (even if that include a bit of body rust, re paint) is quite feasable.....but to take a car that has never have a full frame off and expect to do a detailed resto is impossble.
It also depends much how far one wishes to go....full on dont drive on a wet road show or a reliable daily driver that looks good.
Mine I dismantled in the 80s...since then rust cut out, repaints, replace carpets hood lining as a frame on....its my literally daily driver...and a very tidy one at that with a good squwert with the water blaster on the hoist.
PS when dismantled and cleaning brackets like steering pump and no access to chemical bath, thru in a container of dishwash powder for a few days, the water blast....even in the dishwasher (kid u not)

Bacjk to subject thu..
That welding one is excellent for newbies.
Maybe follow on with pre and painting in thr backyard?
Hood liner
Carpet.
Painting interor
Sound proofing.

I documented how to install the horn contact assemblies on a '69 standard type steering wheel that Jim had linked in his Electrical sticky threads across the street. He might still have it archived somewhere  . If needed I can repost that here.

Yes! Would like to read that. I have after market wheel but it might help me figure out why my horn has never worked.

Hey Jim.......do you still have my write up of the horn contact installation for a '69 ???? You had it in your Electrical Stickies across the street. I could do a thread on it here if you can't locate it in your archived material.
