Just installed Baer 4 wheel disc brakes, all new lines. Bleed the brakes with the bleeder system ( cant remember the name brand) that pushes fluid from the wheel cylinders. Actually went pretty easy. Did them twice just to make sure no air was in the system. Pedal was pretty good but not like my camaro and I have the same brakes. It does have a power booster also.

I started the motor for the first time and the brakes now go way down when the motor was running. Havent had a chance to troubleshoot them yet. Just trying to get some ideas.

The booster was not bench bleed because the fluid was pushed to the master cylinder.

So my plan is to remove the booster to bench bleed then reinstall. Then bleed the brakes again. I usually use the mity vac pump and suck to the wheel cylinders.

What other things should I look at?

Mike, I have read of problems with the push type bleeders (don't remeber where). From what I remember it had to do with the fluid from the master cylinder pressurizes everything as it goes down the line causing the seals to push against the intended sealing surfaces and resulting in no air leaks, but when you go from the cylinders to the master, there is no pressure against the sealing surfaces as the pressure is applied in the wrong direction and suction draws air in past the seals as you fill a new system. Suposedly it's not a problem on an existing system, just a new one. I have no experience with this, I just read alot, and it seems believable to me, but I could be wrong.

Some people think I'm out of my mind, but in my defense it's pretty scary in there!

Mike, I had the same exact problem with the big Baers.

Which master are you using? Wilwood?

For sure bench bleed it. I had no luck with the power bleeder or Mityvac with those brakes, just lots of manual pumping and even gravity bleeding.

I tried the Wilwood on my camaro and it is the wrong size pistons. I ended up finding a 15/16" bore aluminum master cylinder and it works fine on my car. It is the same master cylinder I have on the car I just bleed the brakes on but they do have bigger calipers in the front. I am going to remove the master cylinder and start from there.

It just seemed strange that I had a descent pedal but when I started the motor and had vacuum to the booster, the pedal went almost all the way to the floor.
