:woohoo: No funds for car parts, so this afternoon I started doing the Guldstrand mod to the control arms.It wasn't too bad, hardest part was getting the studs out(figured out that I could fit a big c clamp on them and press them out)everything stayed on the car, didn't remove anything except the control arm and the ball joint.Hope to get to the right side Sat..The right side looks a little tighter with the front header tube in the way by the back stud and then remember how my Fastrax gauge works( somewhere I have the directions for it) and get the alignment set.

It's kind of too late for pic's on the left side( no I'm not going to take it apart again)but I could take some on the right side, they both are done the same way.I found an old article with photos on it and they showed the guy drilling the pilot holes from the engine side( doesn't work with headers, power steering pump). What I did was press out the studs and install the studs backwards, the template will fit up inside the hump over the studs and then drilled the holes from inside the wheelwell. The left side worked like a charm, cross shaft slid right on the studs in the new locations.

That's how I did mine too, reveresed the studs and slipped the template on. Did all the work from inside the wheelwell.

I got some pics someplace...

I was just thinking this would be a perfect topic for the "how to" section.

Crazy hours this week 12pm start on Mon.,5am Tues.,3am today,24 hours worked in 47 hours, sleep was precious. I did finish the right side on Sat. ,had to remove the header for a little room, not a big deal.I wasn't sure if you wanted me to post any photos yet.I took some it wasn't all that difficut to do,but I did a lot of rechecking on the measurements, there isn't a second chance really. If you want me to add them let me know,it sounded like you were working on some new software for tech articles.I have the same gauge as Jim M has( $149 at Summit I think) it's really pretty easy to use but thats a job for this weekend. I use a combination of plexiglass squares and tyvek ( house wrap, real slick when wet)and liquid dish soap for my antifriction devices under the tires, much easier cleanup than oil.
