From what I understand slotted rotors offer a performance gain due to the evacuations of gasses and debris but cross drilled rotors are simply for appearances. Let's get a discussion going, what do you think?

Don to me they were like night and day.Even in our honda accord they made a big difference ,in the rain they are the best.As far as brake fade they do help, and they look cool.I can,t wait to change my truck over one day.

I thought one reason was for the heat dissapation. Keep the brakes cool means better braking.

I'm not a fan of cross drilled. When I worked in the auto parts store I had a few request to turn them, it is hard to do with regular equipment. That's not a problem on a Homda with disposable rotors but might be an issue on a first gen. I've also seen a internet article about chunks of the rotor cracking away and imbedding itself in the aluminum wheel of an autocross car. I've never had any real issue stopping my 69 when I was driving and I drive it with spirit.

Typically, when someone buys drilled, slotted, or OMG BOTH WOW! rotors, they also buy decent brake pads.

It's the good brake pads that improve the stopping power.

But all those holes and grooves sure look good behind your foose wheels.

Jim does have a point with most people buying drilled/slotted rotors more for show. Personally I am not a big fan of drilled rotors. Mainly because of some of the issues (crackin from heat build up) more so on cheeper rotors than say from Bear or SSBC. I do like the sloted rotors though as cracking doesn't seem to be an issue and they still allow for expelling the gasses and brake dust built up under hard brakeing. I also agree though that most street cars don't need slotted or drilled rotors from a performance stand point. A properly set up brake system with a good set of rotors/pads will stop even the heaviest muscle car in a hurry.
