I'd like your opinions on shocks...

Front and rear:
What are the best shock for dampening as well as recovery for a stock style suspension? My front and rear shocks are old and need replacement. I want more dampening, but not too much.

I was looking at the KYB GR2 shocks due to price (obviously), but I've read a lot of people claim them to be too stiff. Of course, the Edelbrocks are more pricey, and then the price goes higher and higher from there.

Shoot me some ideas please...

The KYB's that I have (and hate) are gas a just's. Them is some stiff ones. That's what's on my first gen that I haven't driven in 23 years. I still remember how stiff it is. I put KYB's on my ole third gen with drop springs. I think those were GR2's but I really don't remember. It was a controlled ride but I don't think as harsh as the gas ajust's. My son is drivin that third gen now and I'd ask him but it's ridin on the bump stops in the front now. I'd find some one that has GR2s in the same car as you're driving before purchase if possible. Just my .02

I did not like the Gas-adjusts, too stiff for me. I went with basic Monroes until I can afford the shocks Hotchkis sells that are matched to thier suspension package. No complaints so far, but I haven't been on any twisties since then. (few and far between in the Chicago area)

Some people think I'm out of my mind, but in my defense it's pretty scary in there!

I just ordered front and rear Edelbrock IAS shocks.

I tried a set of KYB G2's on the rear today and it was a extremely stiff ride on the back springs.

I'll update this topic when I get the new Edelbrocks on how well they feel.

I also run QA1's, set on 3. Ride is controlled but smooth. I found em installed but never run from a guy who decided to go with coil overs instead. WAY beyond my budget if I'd had to pay retail.

My 68 coupe has Konis on front/back set at the softest setting. I don't like how the rear rides (too stiff). I run GW L-2 multi leafs. I've read that the IAS are much softer and would be interested to see how they work out for you.
