Swapping out C5 fronts for C6 fronts (calipers only, I hope), and have a few basic questions:

Do the pad abutments interchange?

Do the abutment shims and anti-rattle springs interchange?

Do the brake pads interchange?

Thank you!!!

Hey Al, What do you gain by changing out your calipers? I apologize for not being able to answer your question, but I am curious as to why you wish to change. Also, what diameter are your rotors?

Holy crap this old. Sorry I missed it, Andrew.

I gain nothing, really.

The C6 caliper has much bigger reinforcement ribs, and supposedly is 25% more rigid than the C5 caliper. Will I ever notice the diff on my street driven Camaro? Probably not.

Mainly, i did it because i got a killer deal on a set (4) of C6 calipers that had stupid low miles on them. My C5 calipers were the red powdercoat Z06 model and "clashed" with my Hugger Orange paint. The C6's were just the standard anodized base Corvette models, so i painted 'em silver to match the LS1 rears that you're familiar with. They are a direct swap.

I sold the red ones on e-bay and have essentially broken even, and no longer have hideous red calipers in the front. Not that red calipers don't look good on some cars. Just not mine.

My front rotors are C4. 13.0 x 1.10

To answer my own questions:

All are YES. (C6 std & Z51 don't use anti-rattle springs) This is for standard C6 stuff vs. any C5 stuff, front. C6 Z51 gets you a bigger rotor, a different abutment, same caliper. C6 Z06 is a different animal all together, AFAIK.

Those new calipers look really nice. Do you know how these Corvette calipers differ with the Camaro LS1 calipers? Are they all interchangeable?

Andrew -

The Corvette calipers will bolt up to your LS1 abutments. I believe the Corvette calipers have smaller pistons than the LS1 calipers, and are pressure cast vs gravity cast. Lots of 4th gen owners swap to the c5/c6 calipers. Probably for bragging rights over any real performance gain.

I'm not sure about wheel fitment.

Thanks Al. I wouldn't want to go to smaller pistons and loose the braking power but if I can get my hands on a caliper I might test it for clearance.

There is a difference in alloys between the C5 and the Z06 calipers too, the Z06 is supposed to be stronger that the basic C5 calipers. The LS1 calipers are even weaker than the C5s.
