Holy crap this old. Sorry I missed it, Andrew.
I gain nothing, really.
The C6 caliper has much bigger reinforcement ribs, and supposedly is 25% more rigid than the C5 caliper. Will I ever notice the diff on my street driven Camaro? Probably not.
Mainly, i did it because i got a killer deal on a set (4) of C6 calipers that had stupid low miles on them. My C5 calipers were the red powdercoat Z06 model and "clashed" with my Hugger Orange paint. The C6's were just the standard anodized base Corvette models, so i painted 'em silver to match the LS1 rears that you're familiar with. They are a direct swap.
I sold the red ones on e-bay and have essentially broken even, and no longer have hideous red calipers in the front. Not that red calipers don't look good on some cars. Just not mine.
My front rotors are C4. 13.0 x 1.10
To answer my own questions:
All are YES. (C6 std & Z51 don't use anti-rattle springs) This is for standard C6 stuff vs. any C5 stuff, front. C6 Z51 gets you a bigger rotor, a different abutment, same caliper. C6 Z06 is a different animal all together, AFAIK.
