I have zero knowledge on stamps but most of the posts I read show quite a variance in stampings. This 68 on ebay looks perfect. Is it real?

IMO it looks good. I can't see anything that might signal restamp.

I'm not an expert, but, I don't see any original broach marks from the factory
and the second "O" should be more oval to represent a zero?

Engine date is July 10th.
Partial ViN indicates 3rd to 4th week of July.
Are the stamps good? Let's hear from one of the gurus please...

Not an expert but have seen many engine stampings in my life and have NEVER seen one so perfect ! With that in mind...it looks too good. May be original numbers however re stamped after the machine shop work.

I am no expert but I don't like the pad without broach marks.

I don't know about the stampings, but the machined surface of the deck does not look anything close to the original factory finish.

Is this a Los Angles motor? I have a Norwood 68-Z/28 with a serial of 413XXX and it is a April 1st week build. If serial numbers are in sequence between both plants then the one in question would have been built sometime in March 08...........
