 Post subject: Incorrect factory VIN stamp

I have what I believe to be an incorrectly stamped VIN by the factory on my early LOS 69 car. Has anyone come across this before?

I also think on this car there are other misdemeanours from the factory, or maybe it had to be rushed out the door for whatever reason and mistakes happen!!

OK, here are some pics.
The block stamp photos we got took us hours to get good shots of, the engine appears to have never been removed and the numbers had 40+ years of carp on them. ;)

I dont know, If someone was trying to fake a # they should use the right number, yes we know uaw never made a mistake. :?

That is a very early built car. I know the Van Nyes plant was not as consistant on where the partial vin was stamped as Norwood but is it common to find it near the oil filter in a car this early?

Russ it appears that is quite common on the 69 cars from what I have read. As far as being the correct location for early cars, good question! :cool:
