Found this item for sale, don't know if it really works yet,but it's mine. It's a 60's vintage Hemmeter Corp. Dial-O-Matic on car wheel balancer. The unit powers up(110 VAC),has the adapters for 14" and 15" wheels,200 or so weights in the storage compartment on the top of the unit, couple of nicks in the insulation on the power cord and the foot switch cord,a little dirt and missing paint but it's probably older than the Camaro.

Did a quick Google search and only came up with a lawsuit between Hemmeter Corp. and Stewart Warner.

I've never used that brand but have done on car wheel balancing with a Hunter unit. I think you need a strobe light attachment to show you wheere to put the weight. The dials on the center of the wheel gizmo should tel how much. I still think it's a great buy.

It has a lot of gears and levers inside the unit that attaches to the wheel, seems like it works on some kind of centrifugal force principal. It has an initial setting and then you do some adjusting with the two knobs, there's an arrow on it that shows you where to put the weight and how much depending on tire size and a couple of windows that show two other reference marks,it does have a built in braking system. It's not high tech now but maybe it was back then.

Maybe not the most practical tool in the garage, but still a cool old tool to have even for a conversation piece if nothing else. The fact that it works is a bonus. :beers:
