Does anyone follow completed Ebay auctions of project cars? The econmy has been harder than I thought on me and I'm weighing options.
Scenario 1
69 RS 307/350 (numbers match) auto PS, PDB, deluxe interior console fold down seat completely apart (roller) New installed rockers, trunk floor, passenger and driver floors. have new but uninstalled repop quarters, outer wheel houses, tailpanel, package tray, and deck lid filler panel, trunk lid, core supprt and cowl hood. Also have interior that needs work.

Scenario 2 Same as above but running and drivable with non match 305 4BBL. would include 307.

I'm wondering how many house payments I could make if I sold this??????

Hey Jeff, I'm far from an expert, but I've seen cars that needed a lot more work selling for 6-8K, and no mention of numbers matching. With that said, if you sell her, will you ever have the dough to get another? I could sell mine, pay off everything but the mortgage and stop working 13 hour days. But I may never have a Firstgen again. So I suck it up and do what I have to. The little bit of time I have to work on, drive, and occasionally beat on that car, is the reward for working since I was 13. And it's worth it. If you can make her a driver to sell her, give up the idea of a perfect restoration & do it for yourself. Then go for a ride & see how you feel. Hell on the 4th I'll drive out and take you for a ride after I show you all the warts on mine. Might even let you drive  Think long and hard about this one or you'll be spending time on a carpentry forum or the like in the future.

All kidding aside. In the condition yours sits with those parts. I'd guess you could pull 3-7k ( I have yet to see it in person)
You would need to find the right shopper and have patience.
You might get more if you parted it out. IMO. Although most will hate to hear that option. :noway:
If you decide to sell it, post it up here. I might need another project car. :wall:

Not enough.

Not looking to pay the house off, just enough to get me out a major bind. Hardly seems worth it to sell the car and lose the house anyway but to lose the house and keep a first gen doesn't seem smart today either. I think I just need a printing press and start making money.

Desperate times call for desperate measures. I wish you all the best with your decision.

Sorry to hear the "bind" you are in Jeff, saving your house is more important than a project car, albeit a Camaro. You have to do what you must, there's plenty of cars out there mate. :frown:

Price, well you guys would have a better real idea than me but conservatively $6-8K I would think. Numbers matching and those nice options are good stuff to have.

Personally I would not include the 305 with it, the buyer can't drive the car anyway until the restoration is done so sell that separately. You may not get any more for the car with the extra engine and a 305 may not be the desired choice for many people. The buyer would probably sell it as well to get some $$$$ back from their purchase. If the 307 is far from being able to be rebuilt, let them worry about that. For yourself if you can keep the car then you have it anyway for your rebuilt car and saves you $$$$ in the long term, good luck with it all.

I spent an hour or more looking at completed auctions on Ebay yesterday. With one exception first gen projects seem to be worth 3G's. The one exception came with a pile of new parts but was a complete car and not nearly as intimidating looking as mine.
I'm not giving it away just so I can stay in my house for a few months longer. I'll have to take a diffferent direction.
I've talked to everyone I can think of (Banker, Insurance man, flood insurance peeps, and current employer.) No immediate relief from any of them but can redistribute about $300 amonth and will be seeking new full time employment. I hate to leave this company just before my ten year anniversary but the money just ain't there right now.
I've heard God doesn't give us more than we can handle so I just have to figure out how to handle this.
