I have a current running condition 388 stamped block in running condition.
I would be willing to sell it off in pieces. Or as is.
What do you guys have for advice? Would it be worth more complete running as is or piece by piece?
What's your thoughts on selling it as is? Should I leave it in the car until a buyer can witness how it runs, or pull it complete, or pull it apart?

Let me hear it.

What is the casting date and what is stamped on the stamp pad? That could make all the difference in the world as to value.

Refresh my memory. Where would I find the stamp pad?

And are the numbers for the heads under the valve covers?

If you sell the long block as a running engine, the buyer may come back to you if he is unsatisfied with, performance, durability etc. If you piece it out, it's gone from your life with no follow up phone calls later on. And you'll likely get more for it, but you'll deal with several people instead of just one.

Some people think I'm out of my mind, but in my defense it's pretty scary in there!

See above for the stamps etc.
What is it, and what's it worth?

The engine originally was a 350/300hp in a full size chevy with a 3 speed automatic. I can not find the 3827188 casting for the heads. They should have been 3927186 castings so clean them to get a better look. There were also 3927188 castings used on 307's in the 1969 model year. The block could have been 2 bolt or 4 bolt mains. It is a very early production block for the 69 model year so other than findinig someone looking for the early date, I don't see it being worth more than any other 350 block. Assuming the heads are 186's I would guess the long block needing rebuilt would be worth anywhere from $500 to $800. If the heads are actually 188 castings, I would deduct about $300. JMO
