Any demand for a stock hood off a 68? Painted green.

If I'm not mistaken, all first gen hoods are interchangeable. So you have a wider market (67-69) than just 68 owners.

Beyond that, it depends on the condition, any rust, bondo, dents, etc, and whether it's a confirmed original or a repop. You can tell for certain if it's original by raising the hood and looking at the corners closest to the windshield. Looking at those corners from the side, if they have a kind of "L" shape, it's probably real. Repops will have more of a 45-degree angle. See below for pics of an original. They're not great, but you can see how there's kind of an angle and then a little tip after that. A repop won't have that tip... Someone will set me straight, if I'm mistaken.

All that said, I'm biased here, b/c I actually need a flat hood for my 69. Any chance you're close to Austin, TX?

I think it is a real one but I have to check it out later today. I am located in southeastern Wisconsin. :frown:

Aw, bummer... Having to ship it wouldn't make it worth your while, or mine, I'm afraid.

That said, if it turns out to be an original, and assuming it's in perfect condition, I'd say... $100-200? I've seen OEM cowls go for $500, so I'm lowering my guesstimate considerably based on this being a flat hood, and (most) first gen'ers almost all want the cowl. Total guess, of course.

Not to get off topic, but I posted a similar question about my cowl hood across the street at TC and I hardly had any replies as to its value... Seems like that happens a lot in the "What's it Worth" sections, whether it be for an individual part or a whole car.

I have noticed adds in the past over at TC for flat hoods free to good home and for sale but they do not bring much money.

Nope. It's my wedding anniversary this weekend, that usually means I don't get to do any car stuff.

You guys need to plan better for this stuff. My buddy got married the same date as the Elkhorn show. Now granted back then it was Sunday only but still the same weekend. And I raze him every yr about it.
As for selling your hood good luck getting much for it there. I saw 2 in real good shape no rust just a minor ding marked $30 for both, and another one marked $20.
